Day 1, Mon, Nov 19
Depart Colombo EK 349 @ 2:55am and arrive in Dubai @ 5:55am. Leave Dubai EK 901 @ 8:00am and Arrive in Amman, Jordan @ 9:40am. Upon arrival, we will head to Mt. Nebo, where Moses stood on the summit and viewed the promised land of Canaan. Then, we visit the Madaba Mosaic Map – the World’s Oldest Map of the Holy Land, that gives us a fragmented glimpse of the layout of the Biblical Nations. We will then cross over to Israel by bus via the Allenby Border. We will drive to the Plaza Nazareth Hotel, where we will stay during our time in Galilee. ( Itinerary of arrival day is subject to the arrival of flight)
Day 2, Tue, Nov 20
We drive down the Jordan valley to explore Beit Shean. We will walk through this ancient city and see a gymnasium, bathhouse, theatre, public toilets, shops, and temples. Then we will visit the Natural Springs where Gideon brought the 10,000 to be tested. We then visit Megiddo, named in the book of Revelation, as the setting for a future battle between the forces of good and evil, also known as Armageddon. Then we drive back to the city of Nazareth, the boyhood home of Jesus. We return to the Hotel in Galilee.
Day 3, Wed, Nov 21
We begin our day with a special time of worship as we sail across the Sea of Galilee in a 2000 years old replica boat. We visit the traditional site of the Sermon on the Mount – The Mount of Beatitudes. At St. Peters Primacy, we see the place where Jesus restored Peter after His crucifixion on the shores of the Sea of Galilee. At Capernaum, the center of Jesus’ activities in Galilee and home to Peter, Andrew, James, and John, we see the house of Peter where Jesus healed Peter’s mother-in-law and also see the ancient synagogue in which Jesus taught. We will then visit Magdala, the home of Mary Magdalene, where an ancient synagogue from the first century has been recently discovered. The city has been underground for over 2,000 years and left untouched. We return to the Hotel in Galilee.
Day 4, Thu, Nov 22
Today, we explore the northern part of Israel. We drive to Banias, one of the headwaters of the Jordan River and site of ancient Caesarea Philippi where Jesus asked His disciples, “Who do men say that I am?” and declared, “the gates of hell will not prevail”. Then, walking through the beautiful nature reserve of Tel Dan, we see remains from Jeroboam’s Altar built in disobedience to prevent his kingdom from returning to the Jerusalem Temple. We then drive on the Golan Heights to look into Syria towards Damascus and see the remains from the Six Day War on Mt. Bental. we then head to Kursi, where a headlong stampede by a herd of demon-possessed pigs into the Sea of Galilee and will return to the Hotel in Galilee.
Day 5, Fri, Nov 23
Our first stop will be Mt. Carmel, where Elijah challenged the 450 prophets of Baal. Then we travel to Caesarea Maritime where we see a well preserved Roman Amphitheatre, remains from Herod’s Palace, the Aqueducts and a Hippodrome that seated 10,000 spectators. Next stop will be Jaffa, an Ancient Port City, south of Tel Aviv where Peter saw his vision regarding the acceptance of the Gentiles. Then we drive to Jerusalem and stop for a magnificent view of the city from Mt. Scopus. We arrive at the Jerusalem Gold Hotel, where we will stay for the remaining days of our tour.
Day 6, Sat, Nov 24
We start the day at Qaser El Yahud, the area believed to be where Jesus was baptized. Here you will have an opportunity to be baptized in the Jordan River. Then we descend to the lowest point on earth, the Dead Sea. We stop at Ein Gedi to see the waterfalls where David hid from Saul. Ascending by cable car, we tour the famous archaeological site of Masada, an ancient fortress where Jewish Zealots made their last stand against Rome in 73 AD. As time permits we will visit Qumran, the ancient city of the Essenes and site of the Dead Sea Scrolls discovery where every Old Testament book was represented in 11 caves except for the Book of Esther. We will take time to “float” in the therapeutic waters of the Dead Sea.
Day 7, Sun, Nov 25
The day begins with a visit to the Temple Southern Steps. Very few sites can claim for certain to be a place where Jesus walked. These steps were the only entrance for all who visited the Temple during the time of Christ. Then we visit the Western Wall for a personal time of reflection and prayer and then walk through the Western Wall Tunnel to see a remarkable underground excavation of ancient Jerusalem. Then we continue to the Jewish Quarter where we see the ancient Roman Cardo and remains from Hezekiah’s Wall. We will continue to Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Museum, in honour of the millions of Jews murdered by the Nazis. Then at the Israel Museum, we see the Holy Land Model, a 1:50 miniature replica of Jerusalem during the time of Christ.
Day 8, Mon, Nov 26
We start today at the Mount of Olives where we will hear an explanation of the city, then walk down the Palm Sunday Road to the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus spent that agonizing night before His betrayal. We enter Stephen’s Gate and go to the Temple Mount and The Dome of the Rock. We see the Pools of Bethesda, the place where the angels would stir the waters for healing and where Jesus healed the lame man. We will visit St. Anne’s Church and experience an acoustic marvel, as we sing. We will continue through the Old City following the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, one of the sites believed to be the burial place of Jesus.
Day 9, Tue, Nov 27
After checking out of our hotel, we will visit the new excavations of the City of David, revealing some of the most exciting archeological finds of the ancient world. Archeologists have found what they believe to be is King David’s Palace that has been undisturbed for over 3,000 years – including the walls, wells, and passageways. From here we proceed to Mount Zion to visit the traditional Upper Room as we remember the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Then we visit the Church of St. Peter in Galacantu and Caiaphas’ House where Jesus was held before trial and see the ancient steps cut into the hill that led to the city, a path Jesus may have used. We end our time in Jerusalem at one of the sites believed to be the burial place of Jesus, the Garden Tomb and a highlight of our tour as we enjoy a time of worship and communion. Then we make our way out of Israel and transfer via the Allenby Bridge to Amman, Jordan.
Day 10, Wed, Nov 28
We depart Amman on EK 906 at 1:45 am and arrive in Colombo on EK 654 at 6:45 pm with a lifetime of memories of our Journey to the Holy Land.
Terms and Conditions:
Registration is made with a Rs.100,000/- deposit per person. Expenses incurred as a result of expedition documents or information are the responsibility of the passenger. Seats are limited and the tour will be closed when all vacancies are filled. All rates are in LKR, for per person twin sharing, unless traveler has a preferred roommate. People’s Church will make every effort to assign a suitable roommate. People’s Church is NOT responsible for, nor does it guarantee the finding of a roommate. If no roommate is available for placement, the applicable single room supplement will apply. Tour price is based on a minimum number of travelers. Should the minimum number not be met, tour price would be subject to change. Visa and Mastercards are accepted but are subjected to a 3% non-refundable banking charge.
Travel documents:
All travelers are required to have a passport valid for “ ALL COUNTRIES”, and valid for at least six months beyond the completion date of the tour: Entry laws differ with respect to traveler’s citizenship. You are responsible for any expenses incurred as a result of delays or itinerary changes related to your lack of appropriate travel documents and are therefore ineligible for any refund from People’s Church. Your flight ticket must match your passport names. Verifying travel documents is the responsibility of the traveler.
Cancellations:
Air ticket fee (Rs. 100,000) is non-refundable. The following cancellation penalties will apply for the rest of the tour fare: 120 days before departure: full refund (less Rs. 30,000 handling fees): 119-60 days is Rs. 75,000; 59-31 days is Rs. 50,000; less than 30 days is non-refundable. All applicable airfare and overseas operation cancellation fees will be added to the above. All cancellations must be submitted in writing and will take effect upon the date of receipt by People’s Church. Unused portions of the tour cost are not refundable.
Travel Insurance :
This is not included in the tour price but it is mandatory that you are insured.
Not included in tour price:
Excess baggage charges, meals other than those provided for, items from the hotel room, mini fridge, telephone calls, laundry, bottled water, after dinner coffee or tea, personal items, and anything not mentioned as included.

Your deposit confirms your tour membership and your acceptance of all tour terms and conditions. By acceptance of tour membership, the tour member agrees that neither the tour operator nor any of its employees or affiliates shall be liable for any strikes, riots, terrorism, wars, epidemics, quarantines, medical or customs regulations, defaults, delays, loss or damage resulting from the negligence of any vendor. By embarking upon this tour, the traveler voluntarily assumes all risks of damage or loss are involved, expected or unexpected. Tour operator reserves the right to refuse any person, before or during the tour, and to make any changes to the tour should circumstances warrant.
